1. Candidates for scholarship must belong to one of the following under-represented ethnic categories (accroding to the standards set by the University of California):

Multi-ethnic (at least one parent must be a member of one of the aforementioned groups)

2. Candidates must be incoming or first year students to UC Berkeley (freshman or junior transfers)
3. Candidates who did not have a chance to apply prior to entering UC Berkeley may apply in the Fall semester. The award will be $500 for the first semester and $1,000 each additional year, amounting up to $3,500 for a total of four years.
